Open Food Facts is a crowdsourced database of food products from around the world. 1300 individual contributors have added data for 30000 products using their smartphones to scan barcodes and to take pictures of products, ingredients lists and nutrition facts.
Spain is the 2nd largest country in terms of number of food products opened: http://es.openfoodfacts.org/
The data is used by individuals to decrypt labels (e.g. E-numbers for food additives) and to compare products, and it is reused by a dozen apps like http://madenear.me and http://howmuchsugar.in
Food data is data of public interest, it has to be open!
